The film starts out with the audition of 18-year-old Jody Sawyer (Amanda Schull) for the American Ballet Academy (ABA). She is cited as having bad feet and turnout, yet she makes it anyway. Upon arriving to the academy in New York City, she meets Cooper Neilson (Ethan Steifel), a famous ballet dancer returning to New York to teach at the academy.
