- Steel (1997) Logo text. Remember that brief moment when Hollywood thought they could make Shaquille O’Neal a movie star? We don’t either. But at least they didn’t waste a high-profile character from the DC universe on him.
- Jonah Hex (2010) Logo text. Few high-caliber thesps who’ve signed on as leads in comic-book films fell as far as Josh Brolin, whose breakthrough Milk and W. performances were still fresh memories when this unrepentantly stupid Western swaggered into cinemas.
- Catwoman (2004) Logo text. Strike one: Halle Berry was donning shredded pleather in the wake of Michelle Pfeiffer, who made Catwoman her own in Batman Returns and should really have had a spinoff to herself.

Even with the DCU Chapter One plan, there is a lot that remains uncertain about which DC Comics characters are coming to the big screen, who’s bringing them there, and in what order — other than the first two films on the schedule, nothing is certain about these movies.
From the Chapter One slate to some older projects that may still be kicking around the Warner offices, DC Comics is fertile soil for film ideas. But like the shelved projects at the end of this list, it remains to be seen how many of them will materialize by 2035.
