The Deep Ones (also known as H.P. Lovecraft's the Deep Ones or H.P. Lovecraft was a Deep One) is a 2020 American horror science fiction film written and directed by Chad Ferrin and based on H.P. Lovecraft's 1931 novel The Shadow over Innsmouth.
The Deep Ones are an amphibious race that primarily serve the two beings known as Father Dagon and Mother Hydra, but also have strong ties to Cthulhu, and are known to employ Shoggoths as servants (HPL: The Shadow Over Innsmouth, EXP: The Return of the Deep Ones).
The Deep Ones are an ancient species of amphibious sea-dwelling humanoids, whose preferred habitat is the deep ocean. A description is offered by the narrator of The Shadow Over Innsmouth : I think their predominant color was a greyish-green, though they had white bellies.
