Nothing could be more different than Stephen Cone's "The Wise Kids," which is honest, observant, and subtle. In the spring and summer of their senior year in high school, three best friends in Charleston, S.C. deal with their religious beliefs and sexuality.
Set in and around a South Carolina baptist church, weaving through The Wise Kids are three main characters—Brea, an introspective pastor’s daughter experiencing debilitating doubt, Laura, Brea’s best friend and a devout believer, and Tim, who is confronting his homosexuality for the first time.
