The Trip to Spain is a 2017 British comedy film directed by Michael Winterbottom. It is the third installment of Winterbottom's film adaptations of the TV series The Trip, following The Trip (2011) and The Trip to Italy (2014).
Plot. Dr. Thomas Avery is an American ophthalmologist who goes to France following the death of his estranged adult son, Daniel, killed in the Pyrenees during a storm while walking the Camino de Santiago (the Way of St. James ), a Christian pilgrimage route to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain.
The film's story follows three childhood friends, Arjun, Kabir, and Imran, who reunite for a three-week road trip. They set off to Spain and meet Laila, who falls in love with Arjun and helps him overcome his compulsion to work.
Aug 11, 2017 · As the men ferry from England to Spain early in the film, we see Brydon in his cabin working on his Roger Moore impersonation. This pays off late in the movie when Coogan tries to show off his knowledge of Spanish history and the rule of the, you know, Moors.
