When Luigi is attempting to escape from a cluster of Dry Bones in the Dark Lands, he hides in the castle where the Shy Guys are, soon leading to them abducting the plumber. They then board him upon their balloon and to Bowser's fortress for the Koopa King to interrogate.

They then reappear as guests for the royal wedding, and soon battle Peach, when she calls it off and ambushes Bowser. They are then later transported into Brooklyn with the rest of the army, where they assist in Bowser to defeat Mario and Luigi, who have invincibility from the star, which leads to their downfall. Additionally, both the Snifit and a singular Shy Guy can be seen in the tussle, picking on Spike. The former is taken out from the invincibility, while the latter attempts to run away when Luigi takes out the other minions also harassing the foreman, only to be flicked by its mask strap.
