Touch: Miss Lonely Yesterday (タッチ Miss Lonely Yesterday あれから君は…, Tatchi Miss Ronrī Iesutadei: Are kara kimi wa…) is the first sequel film to the Touch (anime). It was premiered on December 11, 1998.

Three years have passed since the events of the TV series. Tatsuya Uesugi unexpectedly stopped playing baseball since then. Minami and Tatsuya are going to different colleges. She is enjoying a prosperous career in gymnastics while he gets entangled in the life of a girl from his campus. Both notice that they are irrevocably drifting apart.

It's been five years since Kazuya's death, and three years since Tatsuya was able to fulfill his dream and that of his brother: to win the school baseball championship. Since then, many things have changed: Tatsuya obsessed with that constant contrast with his twin brother has abandoned baseball, to devote himself to a career as a university student, while Minami has successfully continued her path as a gymnast, although not happy.

The relationship between the two protagonists in the meantime has changed, if Tatsuya had in fact declared all his love to Minami now it seems distant, which makes Minami suffer a lot. Tatsuya is also courted by a handsome college student, Kaori, which makes Minami very jealous, especially since Kaori makes her believe that the two of them spend a lot of time together, and that he no longer loves spending time with her. Minami, therefore, saddened by Tatsuya's behavior, accepts the court of Akio Nitta, Tatsuya's former rival, who, unlike him, continues to play baseball.

Meanwhile, Isami Nishimura, Tatsuya's former rival has now become a baseball star, while Kotaro Matsudaira is still in high school and continues to be the captain of the high school baseball team, under the direction of Mr. Nishio, now firmly back to coaching the team. Nishimura, despite having become a champion has never completely solved his elbow problem, now irremediably incurable. After a series of defeats, Nishimura's team is relegated and he finds himself playing his last game before retirement, a game in which Tatsuya participates as a spectator.

Having seen a baseball game again makes Tatsuya want to return to play, while Minami decides to abandon artistic gymnastics to pursue a new dream. Kaori later reveals to Tatsuya that she was only interested in him because she had a past partly similar to hers, and that the one truly in love with him is Minami. In the other hand, after realizing that Minami will never be able to love him, Nitta decides to step aside, and encourages Tatsuya to recover the relationship with her.

  5. This movie (special?) focuses on the romantic aspect of the Touch universe. Having originally gotten into this anime for the romantic aspect, I found this to be a wonderful addition to the series. It touched very well on everything I felt was missing after the series ended, and stayed on track even though it was made 11 years after the series ...

  6. Tatsuya has quit playing baseball. Nitta is still pursuing Minami. And Tatsuya has a mysterious girl named Kaori at his college that seems to like him. So, how will all this affect the relationship between Minami and Tatsuya?
