Mother Carmel and the Sheep's House
Despite being born to normal human parents, Linlin was abnormally large and strong even as a child. When she was 5 years old, unbeknownst to her, she was exiled from her homeland due to her uncontrollable behavior causing much destruction, and her parents were forced to abandon her on Elbaf in the hopes that she would be taken in by Mother Carmel, lying to her that they would pick her up later. After spending a long time on the shore, Linlin was taken in by Mother Carmel to the Sheep's House, a place where she took care of children of any race or status. Due to her naivete and strength, Linlin was prone to physically hurting her housemates; on one occasion, she tried to help a wolf and a bear get along, but when the bear ate the wolf she accidentally killed it with a slap. Despite Linlin's mistakes, Carmel always understood and forgave her. On the day before the Winter Solstice festival, Linlin and the Sheep's House children were invited to take part in a feast, and Linlin was instantly enamored by the semla served to her. The festival then began, with all residents of Elbaf having to fast for 12 days. Linlin suffered greatly as she kept craving food, and on the seventh day of fasting she finally snapped and went on a rampage to get semla. Causing destruction throughout the village and taking down multiple giants, Linlin's actions were deemed to be heresy by Jorul, who attacked her despite Carmel's pleas.[18] However, Linlin shattered Jorul's sword with her bare hands before grabbing him by the beard and throwing him into the ground, fatally injuring him. The citizens of Elbaf then held her down and fed her semla, satiating her and putting her to sleep. When Linlin awoke, she did not remember her rampage, making the giants even angrier at her. In order to quell the giants' wrath, Carmel took Linlin and all her children to a new Sheep's House on a different island, where things returned to normal. Unbeknownst to Linlin, Carmel was in truth a child trafficker who had begun negotiating her future sale to the World Government after her power displayed at Elbaf. Carmel argued that in the Marines Linlin could become an Admiral or Fleet Admiral, or in Cipher Pol would be the greatest shield the Celestial Dragons could ask for and demanded a high price with intent to retire after the sale. Although the masked Cipher Pol agent present reluctantly agreed to the deal, it would never come to pass. At a later date, Carmel and the children celebrated Linlin's sixth birthday with a tea party and croquembouche. An excited Linlin cried tears of joy and devoured the meal, being unable to see past her tears. When she finished eating (with such ferocity that she unwittingly ate the table and chairs as well), she realized that Carmel and all her housemates had disappeared, leaving only scraps of clothing behind. She then searched for them only to find that she was all alone and broke down in tears.[19] Immediately after this, Linlin was approached by Streusen, a chef and former pirate that wanted to work with her after witnessing her actions. They decided to make the island they were on into a dream country, where she wanted all races to live in harmony and for her friends to be the same size as her. Unknown to either of them, a giant had come from Elbaf to the island to make sure Carmel and the children were doing well, only to witness Linlin's actions too which he reported back to the others, causing the giants' hatred for her to increase even more.[20]
Becoming a Pirate and Mother
Linlin later discovered that she somehow had gained Carmel's Soru Soru no Mi powers. Afterwards she began engaging in pirating activities, razing villages for sweets and treasure, with Streusen handling the latter. In time, Linlin began conquering islands rather than just raiding them and started giving the citizens the choice to either obey her orders and join her dream country or die. She quickly gained a bounty of 50,000,000, which multiplied by 10 while she was still young as she became more powerful and fearsome. They terraformed these islands to be based on a different type of food, with the island they began on becoming Whole Cake Island, the center of their new utopia called Totto Land.[20] When she was 18 years old, Linlin gave birth to her first child,[21] starting her family and has since birthed about once a year for 42 years, earning her the epithet of "Big Mom", with some of them being multiple births, eventually having 85 children from 43 husbands.[22] By the time she was 24 years old, Linlin, along with Streusen, was a member of the infamous Rocks Pirates. At that age, she met with a 15-year-old Kaidou, who then became an apprentice of the crew as well as a younger-brother figure to Linlin.[23] Thirty-eight years ago when she was 30, she and her crew arrived at God Valley to recover a certain treasure, about which Linlin was the most concerned. Upon seeing Emporio Ivankov and Bartholomew Kuma holding the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu and Nikyu Nikyu no Mi, she attacked Ivankov and stole the Zoan fruit, but before she could steal the other fruit as well, Kuma ate it himself.[24] Sometime after, she battled against Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp during the God Valley Incident. During this, Captain Rocks D. Xebec met his end, resulting in the crew's dissolution.[25] On the same day, Linlin gave the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu to Kaidou, for which she claimed he owed her.[26] At age 35, Big Mom went back to forming her own crew.[27] Big Mom had sought to become Pirate King and reach Laugh Tale even before the Great Age of Pirates. Over 24 years ago, Roger managed to read Big Mom's Road Poneglyph, allowing him to beat her to Laugh Tale. Eighteen years ago, Big Mom gave birth to decuplets, setting her personal record for the most births at once.[22] Intent on becoming the next Pirate King, Big Mom placed her hopes on her 35th daughter Charlotte Pudding, born 16 years ago from a man from the Three-Eye Tribe, to awaken her tribe's special ability to help read the Poneglyphs.[28] At one point, the Prince of Elbaf, Loki, proposed to Linlin's 23rd daughter, Lola. Big Mom saw an opportunity to quell her strained relationship with the giants and sought to make it a political marriage that would forge an alliance with Elbaf and Totto Land, granting her the means to trounce the other members of the Four Emperors and becoming the Pirate King via the giants' famed army. However, Lola escaped from the arranged marriage against her mother's will. Big Mom then tried to use Lola's elder twin sister, Chiffon, as a substitute, but that plan failed and her relationship with giants grew worse. Big Mom gave up on trying to befriend the giants thereafter and decided to focus on creating artificial giants instead. To that end, Big Mom commissioned the rogue Marine scientist Caesar Clown to research Gigantification so she could turn members of her family into giants. Meanwhile, Big Mom's rage towards Lola over running out on the political marriage even extended to Chiffon due to her bearing identical features. Linlin would treat her cruelly time and time again and often banish her from her presence.[29][30] Five years ago, the Nox Pirates entered her territory, seeking the Road Poneglyph, but her crew crushed them. As a punishment, she had Zepo, a Nox Pirate, spin the Roulette Wheel to determine how he and Pedro would be punished, and it landed on 100 years of lifespan being removed. Big Mom removed Zepo's lifespan, who died instantly since he only had 30 years left to live. She then prepared to take 70 years of Pedro's life, but Pekoms' pleading convinced her to reduce the years lost to 60. Pedro then took out his own left eye to show Big Mom his determination to return to Zou alive. Out of respect for his spirit, Big Mom decided to only take 50 years of Pedro's life.[31] At some point, Big Mom and Vinsmoke Judge arranged a political marriage between Pudding and Judge's third son, Sanji,[32] in order to unite the bloodlines of the Charlotte and Vinsmoke Families.[33] However, Big Mom secretly plotted to assassinate the Vinsmokes in order to claim Germa 66's cloning technologies for herself.[34] Her Vinsmoke assassination plan was continuously delayed due to the Vinsmoke Family being unable to locate Sanji who was living under a low profile in the Baratie.
After the Summit War of Marineford and the death of Whitebeard, Fish-Man Island was once again vulnerable to pirate attacks and to the slave trade. Big Mom decided to protect it in Whitebeard's place, but demanded large amounts of candy as payment, thus leading to the Candy Factory's creation.[35] The Sun Pirates would also ally with her crew for protection due to Jinbe having resigned from his position as one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.[36]
When Snack was defeated by Urouge during his attempt to invade her territory, Big Mom created a storm in a fit of rage.[37]
Fish-Man Island Arc
After the Straw Hat Pirates and the Ryugu Kingdom defeated the New Fish-Man Pirates, Big Mom sent two of her subordinates to collect the monthly candy tribute, unaware that the factory had been destroyed in the fighting. She was excited for an upcoming Tea Party, at which she anticipated eating the candy from Fish-Man Island. Bobbin returned from destroying an island that had failed to make its monthly candy tribute and reported that everything had gone up in flames. Pleased by this, Big Mom commented that the baked sweets from that country were delicious and that the island must have smelled wonderful as it burned down. Upon learning that Fish-Man Island might not be able to make their monthly payment, she demanded that a call to be made to the island at once. Pekoms and Tamago were too nervous to answer when the call went through, so Monkey D. Luffy answered it instead. When Luffy claimed that he had eaten all ten tons of the candy meant for her tribute, Big Mom accused him of lying, but Luffy insisted that he spoke the truth and offered her their treasure as compensation. As an offended Big Mom declared she would only accept candy and that she could not eat treasure, Tamago informed her that Eustass Kid had recently sunk two of their ships and the crew was in need of money to cover the damages, which meant they should accept the gold and allow Fish-Man Island two weeks to recover and make new candy. Though she was further insulted by the suggestion due to her belief that pirates should not compromise, Big Mom admitted that she had become interested in Luffy and decided to shift the target of her wrath from Fish-Man Island to Luffy alone. In response, Luffy decided that it was too dangerous to leave Big Mom in charge of Fish-Man Island and declared that he would defeat her when they meet in the New World before announcing his intention to claim Fish-Man Island as his own territory, utterly infuriating Big Mom.[39]
Zou Arc
Sometime after Sanji and his group arrived at Zou, Big Mom sent her subordinates Pekoms, Bege, and Tamago to issue a malicious Tea Party invitation to Sanji to coerce him into becoming a pawn in her Vinsmoke assassination plans, threatening to send a decapitated head of anyone he holds dear as a present if Sanji refused to comply. Before Sanji's arrival to Whole Cake Island, Big Mom ordered Pudding to seduce Sanji with her acting skills as part of her plan to assassinate the Vinsmokes.
Whole Cake Island Arc
Three days before the Tea Party, Big Mom happily sang and danced with her Homies, as she received reports that her subordinates had acquired special eggs, flour, and fruit to make the wedding cake. She then asked and received confirmation that Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates had arrived in Totto Land.[40] Later, Big Mom got a craving for croquembouche and went on a rampage through Sweet City looking for the treat. Her 16th son Charlotte Moscato attempted to stop her, but she demanded he give her either croquembouche or his life. He ran away in fear, and she pulled out his lifespan. Jinbe then came and fed Big Mom with some croquembouche homies, causing her mind to return to normal.[41] Jinbe asked to talk with Big Mom, and they went to the Whole Cake Chateau, where he asked to leave her crew. Big Mom agreed, but on the condition that he spin her Roulette wheel to give up a certain amount of lifespan.[42] Due to the exorbitant amounts of lifespan on the wheel, Jinbe retracted his request.[43] When the Straw Hats reached Whole Cake Island the next day, Big Mom sent Charlotte Cracker to deal with them swiftly, ensuring they would not disturb the Tea Party.[44] She then had Caesar Clown brought before her, and she inquired about the progress of his gigantification research. Caesar lied that his progress had been destroyed by Luffy and Trafalgar Law, so Big Mom revealed that she had a replica laboratory constructed just for him. She gave him two weeks to finish his research, and if he did not have results by then he would be killed by Charlotte Perospero.[45] The next day, Big Mom found out that Luffy had defeated Cracker. Enraged, she created a storm around Sweet City and sent out an army to avenge Cracker. Big Mom went to have lunch with the Vinsmoke Family in the Chateau. On her way, her daughter Charlotte Anana asked for some knives. Big Mom told her sons Dolce and Dragée to get some for her despite their protests, having no issue with Anana's murderous tendencies. She then joined Pudding and the Vinsmoke Family for lunch.[46] After Pudding and Sanji excused themselves, Big Mom returned to her throne room. Sanji later came and requested that she allow his crew to live. She said she would, so long as he went along with the wedding.[47] Big Mom then took the rest of of the Vinsmokes to her Prisoner Library, where she showed them her collection of rare animals and people. Vinsmoke Judge noted that he had not yet seen giants in Totto Land, and a displeased Big Mom lied that he had just missed them.[48] Big Mom then went back to her throne room and called the imprisoned Luffy via Den Den Mushi. She offered to spare his life if he agreed to not interfere in the wedding, but Luffy refused and openly defied her.[49] Having heard that her crew found Lola's Vivre Card in Nami's possession, Big Mom ordered Charlotte Opera to torture Nami until she revealed Lola's location so she could send an assassin after her. Immediately afterward, Big Mom was alerted to an intruder in the Room of Treasure,[50] and she immediately went there and confronted Brook as he attempted to steal the messages of her three Poneglyphs.[51] She quickly overpowered him, although he was able to deal a small wound to Prometheus, impressing her, as he was the first person to do so. Not finding any Poneglyph rubbings on Brook, Big Mom decided to keep the living skeleton as her pet.[52][53] Pudding then approached Big Mom and they went back to the throne room. There, they went over Pudding's role in the plot to assassinate the Vinsmokes during the wedding.[54] Big Mom then went to bed with Brook the night before the wedding. When members of the Sanji Retrieval Team entered her room to save Brook, she mistook them for flies, wildly attacking them while half asleep. Eventually, they managed to rescue Brook and replace him with a normal skeleton before escaping.[55] When Big Mom woke up the next morning, she wept, thinking that Brook had died, but quickly tossed the skeleton aside after being reminded about the wedding.[56] Big Mom entered the wedding venue atop the Whole Cake Chateau, where she merrily ate and drank with her guests.[57] Big Mom was delighted as Mother Carmel's portrait was brought out, and angrily knocked out a guest with her Haki when he questioned how they were related. The Emperors of the Underworld presented Big Mom with gifts, which she intended to open along with the Tamatebako after the wedding.[58] The wedding ceremony then started, but right when Pudding was supposed to shoot Sanji at the altar, she broke down crying instead. Big Mom signaled for the priest to shoot Sanji, but Charlotte Katakuri accidentally shot the priest in his own attempt to shoot Sanji. Katakuri then stood in front of Big Mom after foreseeing what was about to happen, and the venue broke out into chaos as Luffy and several mirror clones of him burst out of the wedding cake.[59] Big Mom was devastated by the destruction of her cake and removed the lifespans of a few of her cooks as she demanded they make a new one. She attempted to find and attack the real Luffy, but Katakuri intercepted him first. Jinbe saved Luffy from Katakuri, and Big Mom asked if he was staging a mutiny. Jinbe then declared that he was officially leaving the Big Mom Pirates and agreed to have Big Mom take his lifespan on the condition that she would not take any of his comrades' lifespans. Big Mom attempted to do this, but could not due to Jinbe not fearing death. Jinbe attempted to offer a sake cup to Big Mom instead, but she stepped on it and attacked him and Luffy with Prometheus.[60] Big Mom then noticed that Brook had destroyed the portrait of Carmel, and she became dazed as her mind was conflicted over losing both the cake and the portrait.[61] However, when Luffy directly showed her the pieces of the portrait, she lost her mind and unleashed a deafening scream along with Haoshoku Haki as she mourned the disappearance of Carmel.[62] While Big Mom was screaming, Capone Bege and his men attempted to kill her by shooting KX Launchers at her, but the force of her scream caused them to blow up in midair, and it also shattered the mirror that they had intended to use to escape.[63] Soon afterwards, Big Mom regained her senses while Bege was under siege by her crew. Enraged, she started attacking Bege's castle form, overwhelming his defenses.[64] Chiffon tried to get Big Mom to show mercy, but she only angered Big Mom further due to her resemblance to Lola. The Vinsmokes then emerged from Bege to allow him to escape, and Big Mom overpowered Vinsmoke Reiju, causing Luffy and Sanji to come out and stop her attack.[65] Big Mom engaged in a brief clash with Luffy, and he told her that he would come back and defeat her once he had beaten Kaidou, which she found laughable. Judge then attacked Big Mom, but she quickly defeated him with a thunderbolt from Zeus. Vinsmoke Niji and Yonji came to fight her but were swiftly defeated as well.[66] However, right as the Big Mom Pirates were on the verge of total victory, the Tamatebako fell to the base of the Chateau and exploded, causing the Chateau and the Big Mom Pirates to fall to the ground far below. Zeus cushioned Big Mom's landing, but as her subordinates made plans to go after the Straw Hats, Fire Tank Pirates, and Vinsmokes, she was reminded of the wedding cake's destruction and got a craving illness for it.[67] She went on a rampage and removed Opera's lifespan, and when she came to Perospero, he lied that they had made a duplicate cake which was stolen by the Straw Hats. Big Mom then went after the Straw Hats but said she would kill her eldest son if he was lying. She quickly caught up to the Straw Hats by riding on Zeus and attacked them with Napoleon as she demanded her cake.[68] However, Nami started feeding Zeus small thunderclouds, causing him to veer off course and dropping Big Mom off him.[69] As they headed into the Seducing Woods, Big Mom ordered the woods homies to help her stop the Straw Hats and continued launching flying slashes at them with Napoleon. However, Zeus continued to be distracted by Nami, and he accidentally consumed her entire weather egg, filling him with a massive amount of storm energy. Nami then forced him to unleash an enormous thunderbolt that struck Big Mom with enough force to leave her in a crater.[70] However, Big Mom was barely fazed by the attack and moved through the ground toward the Straw Hats.[71] She eventually chased them to the coast and started grabbing and biting on the stern of the Thousand Sunny. However, the Straw Hats managed to blast themselves away on the Sunny with a Coup de Burst.[72] Unaffected by the blast, Big Mom continued chasing after the Straw Hats on the ocean by walking on a candy homie created by Perospero, and quickly caught up to the Thousand Sunny,[73] attacking it by creating a massive tidal wave with the candy homie.[74] Perospero found out that the Straw Hats had survived and told Big Mom to go intercept them at Cacao Island,[75] but she decided to go to Nuts Island instead, tearing it apart as she looked for cake. Luffy ended up coming to the island via the Mirro-World, and Perospero pointed him out to Big Mom. She chased Luffy until he managed to escape back to the Mirro-World.[76] After leaving Nuts Island in ruins, Big Mom resumed chasing after the Thousand Sunny and eventually caught up to it. After hours of rampaging, she was beginning to rapidly lose weight. She summoned Zeus and Prometheus back to her and jumped aboard the Thousand Sunny to look for the cake.[77] When told that there was no cake on the ship, Big Mom refused to believe Perospero had lied to her, tearing through the Sunny's deck and attacking the Straw Hats onboard. However, Jinbe managed to knock her off the ship. Big Mom was saved by Zeus, and she decided to slice the entire ship in half with Napoleon to find the cake. However, Brook bisected Zeus and Nami forced him to discharge its electricity, engulfing Big Mom with a powerful lightning blast.[78] Big Mom lost Zeus but resumed the chase while riding Prometheus. Just as she was about to burn the ship, she smelled the wedding cake approaching on the Nostra Castello.[79] Big Mom started pursuing the Nostra Castello and the cake,[80] following them to Funwari Island, where the cake was left on the coast for her to eat. An utterly emaciated Big Mom then tore into the cake and was left in utter awe by its delicious taste, which reminded her of her feelings during her birthday party with Mother Carmel and the Sheep's House children.[81] After finishing the cake, Big Mom was left lying on the ground in a happy daze, where she was approached by Perospero, who informed her of the situation with the Straw Hats. She then rushed to Cacao Island on a candy homie to intercept the Straw Hats.[82] Big Mom reached Cacao Island as her forces were battling the Sun Pirates and Germa 66, and she prepared to join the fight.[83] During the fight, she overwhelmed Niji and Yonji singlehandedly, resulting in the two of them being captured,[84] but Jinbe and the rest of the Vinsmokes and Germa 66 managed to get away.[85][86]
Levely Arc
Sometime later, Big Mom returned to Whole Cake Island and read the newspaper. She became extremely enraged, as it claimed Luffy had defeated her, and angrily swore revenge on both Morgans and the Straw Hats.[87] She later contacted Kaidou through a Den Den Mushi and told him that she would go to Wano Country to take Luffy's head. When he protested, she reminded Kaidou that he owed her a great debt, much to his displeasure.[88]
Wano Country Arc
Big Mom traveled to Wano Country with her crew and children in pursuit of the Straw Hats and to retrieve Zeus. When they attempted to climb the waterfall around Wano Country on the Queen Mama Chanter, King flew in and attacked, causing the ship to flip over and sending Big Mom into the ocean.[89] Afterwards, Big Mom washed ashore on Kuri Beach, where she was found by Chopper, Tama, Kiku, and Momonosuke. When she woke up, she wondered who she was, having lost her memories.[90] The following morning, Chopper's group took her to Okobore Town, where Tsuru gave her some oshiruko, which she found delicious, and she was given a new name, O-Lin. When Chopper told her that she could find more at Udon, Big Mom became eager to go there.[91] The group then traveled to Udon. On the way there, she commented on how nice the people of Okobore Town were, having given her food despite being very poor. However, she soon started to get hungry, asking how far Udon was while hungrily eyeing Chopper, much to his discomfort.[92] During the journey, Big Mom and Tama happily talked about oshiruko.[93] As night fell, the group arrived at Udon.[94] The next day, Big Mom arrived at the Prisoner Mine, having a craving for oshiruko.[95] After smashing her way through the prison gates, she confusedly asked what a "Big Mom" was when she heard the prison guards call her by her epithet. She then smelled oshiruko, and called for Tama to join her and eat it together. When Queen confronted her, Big Mom asked him to give her oshiruko. However, Queen transformed and refused to share the oshiruko, which angered Big Mom, so she smashed Queen's head into the ground,[96] before swinging him by the neck and throwing him into a wall, taking him out. She then found the pot of oshiruko and eagerly opened it, only to find it empty, much to her disappointment. When she heard Luffy admit that he ate all the oshiruko, Big Mom became angry and started attacking him, revealing that she wanted to take the oshiruko back to Okobore Town to share with everyone there.[97] Big Mom sent Luffy and Hyogoro flying into a wall, and continued chasing Luffy through the Prisoner Mines, destroying everything in her path. She was then distracted by the pot of oshiruko long enough for Queen to attack her by slamming into her head in his brachiosaurus form. This attack caused Big Mom to regain her memories, but she fell asleep immediately afterwards. On Queen's orders, the sleeping Big Mom was wrapped in Seastone chains and injected with heavy doses of anesthesia before being brought to his ship to be taken to Onigashima.[98] At Onigashima, Big Mom gorged on sweets baked by the Beasts Pirates in the presence of the three All-Stars. Recognizing King as a member of one of three races still missing from Totto Land, she told him that she would forgive his attack on her ship if he joined her crew, but King refused. She then ordered Queen to remove her Seastone handcuffs, but the Beasts Pirates did not comply until Kaidou arrived and ordered his subordinates to release her. When Kaidou reminded her that he had promised to kill her if she set foot in Wano, Big Mom replied that she had no intention to die. She then grabbed Napoleon while Kaidou grabbed his kanabo, and the two Emperors clashed, causing the skies above Onigashima to split in two.[99] The two Emperors continued fighting throughout the night.[100] Eventually, after a few days, they stopped their battle and decided to form an alliance, resolving to take over the world together before going back to trying to kill each other.[101] On the day of the Fire Festival, Big Mom prepared for the upcoming feast by putting on a kimono.[102] Later at the Pleasure Hall, she spotted Chopper on the Brachio Tank V.[103] The group in the tank fired a shot at Big Mom and she chased after them, demanding the Straw Hat captain.[104] She quickly returned to the Pleasure Hall after Prometheus called her back upon spotting Nami, Carrot, and Shinobu. Big Mom pursued them while turning nearby objects into homies.[105] Big Mom later captured Zeus, Nami, and Carrot and went to the Live Stage to join Kaidou as he announced his New Onigashima Project, and laughed when Kaidou decapitated Kurozumi Orochi for protesting his plan.[106] When the raid started, Big Mom confronted Luffy, mocking his intent to bring down Kaidou, but Luffy retaliated by stating that his goal was to defeat both of them, along with their followers, in an all-out war.[107] Angered by Luffy's continued interferences in her affairs, Big Mom attacked him with Napoleon, blasting a hole straight through the walls of Onigashima, but Luffy dodged the attack. When Nami attempted to steal back Zeus, Big Mom retrieved him and prepared to strike her down with Zeus's lightning, threatening to destroy Zeus if he went easy on her. Before she could complete the attack, however, Franky and Brook arrived, with Brook slicing Zeus in half and Franky running over Big Mom's face with the back wheel of the Kurosai FR-U IV, sending her to the floor.[108] An angered Big Mom stood up and confronted Franky and Brook, recognizing the latter. Just as Franky was about to fire his Radical Beam at her, three of the Numbers arrived, which Big Mom identified as failed ancient giants from Punk Hazard, and Franky was forced to fire the beam at one of them, which was holding the Brachio Tank V with Chopper and Usopp inside. Big Mom took this opportunity to attack him from behind with Napoleon, but Jinbe grabbed her arm and flipped her onto the floor, where Nico Robin used her powers to sprout two long rows of arms and roll Big Mom off the stage. As she was being rolled away, Big Mom furiously swore revenge on Jinbe.[109] Outside of the castle, Big Mom met Perospero and Marco and immediately shot down Perospero's misgivings about her alliance with Kaidou, revealing that the alliance was her idea and telling him that she still intended to become the Pirate King. She then wondered why someone of Marco's status was helping out some "brats", saying that the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates had lost their way, but Marco replied that with Whitebeard's death, they were no longer bound by his will, but left free to do as they pleased. Bemused, Big Mom told him to do as he wished.[110] Big Mom then briefly clashed with Marco, being surprised that his phoenix flames could overpower Prometheus'. She grabbed him by the neck and ordered Perospero to kill him, but before he could do so, he was stopped by a surprise attack from Carrot and Wanda in their Sulong forms. An annoyed Big Mom then rushed back to the Pleasure Hall, telling Marco that he would have to fight her at another time, since she did not have the souls to spare on him.[111] Big Mom reentered the Skull Dome[112] and flew towards the roof where Kaidou was.[113] After joining Kaidou, she requested that Nico Robin be left alive as she decided not to wait for Pudding's ability to decipher the Poneglyphs to awaken. She also asked about Kaidou's Road Poneglyph, making him question if it wasn't too soon for her to show her cards. An indignant Big Mom then reminded Kaidou of his debt to her after she gave him his Devil Fruit the day the Rocks Pirates fell.[114] When Kid, Killer, Law, Zoro, and Luffy arrived at the roof, Big Mom became excited to take their heads. She was later shocked to see Luffy harming Kaidou with a Gear Third attack.[115] Big Mom then berated Luffy, saying he did not know what it meant to be Pirate King. After Kaidou retaliated and grazed Luffy, Big Mom tried to use Prometheus to attack him, but Zoro stepped in and cut the sun homie in half. Big Mom then had Prometheus fire three balls of fire at Luffy, Kid, and Law, who ended up taking the attacks, after Luffy challenged the other two to a game of "Chicken", with all of them losing. After Kaidou transformed into his dragon form, Big Mom joined him in the sky.[116] As the members of the Worst Generation continued with their attacks on Kaidou, Big Mom struck Killer with a lightning bolt from Zeus, and then unleashed a massive lightning storm on the entire group but was surprised when Luffy was unaffected.[117] After Luffy got worn out from using Gear Fourth, Big Mom tried to attack him with Napoleon, but Zoro grabbed Luffy and jumped out of the way. Law then dealt a blow to Big Mom using his "Counter Shock" technique. As Zoro rescued Luffy from Kaidou, Big Mom was surprised that Zoro managed to cut Kaidou. Later, after Kaidou transformed into his hybrid form, Big Mom agreed when he stated that the battle was getting fun.[118] Big Mom then suggested to Kaidou that they finish off the five pirates together, and, while insulting each other, they unleashed a massively powerful combined attack. However, thanks to Zoro barely managing to block it for an instant, the Worst Generation survived, impressing Big Mom. She then faced off against Kid, Law, Killer, and Zoro while Kaidou fought Luffy. Kid created a metal box that Law used to teleport Zeus in, while Zoro sliced Prometheus to pieces and Killer chased Napoleon away. While getting shot at by Kid, Big Mom asked if they seriously thought that removing her homies from her would be enough to beat her, shaking off Kid's attacks and punching him into the ground. Kid, however, attached some scrap to Big Mom's body and repelled it to send her flying into the air, where Law launched a boulder at her. Big Mom asked what the point of that was, until she realized she has been pushed off Onigashima and was now falling towards the ocean.[119] In a panic, she called for Zeus to save her, but it was Prometheus and Napoleon—after Kaidou intervened—who came down to catch her. Big Mom angrily called Zeus useless and listened to Prometheus as he agreed that Zeus was always holding them back and asked her for a favor.[120] Big Mom then flew back towards the rooftop, having created a new lightning homie, Hera, to replace Zeus. Eager to test her power, she had Hera fire a massive lightning bolt at Kid and Killer. She then went inside the Skull Dome to search for them, but ran into Nami, Usopp, Tama and Komachiyo as they fled from Page One. Big Mom recognized Nami and Usopp, but when Tama called her by her name from when she was amnesiac, O-Lin, Big Mom went into what Prometheus described as her "Mother Mode", forgetting about the Straw Hats and happily talking with Tama. She thanked her for looking after her when she had amnesia and for taking her to Okobore Town, where she had Tsuru's tasty oshiruko. However, when Tama told her that Okobore Town had been burned down by the Beast Pirates, Big Mom became very angry, saying that no matter how cruel pirates can be, there should still be some standards. Page One arrived and told Big Mom to stop the Straw Hats from escaping, but she instead furiously punched him in the throat with a fist coated in Haoshoku Haki.[121] Big Mom was confronted by Ulti, who berated her for attacking Page One. After Nami tried to get her on their side by lying, saying that Ulti was the one who had burned down Okobore Town, Big Mom replied that the Straw Hats were next once she was done with Ulti. When Ulti hit Tama, a furious Big Mom asked her how she dared attack her friend. Before she could act, however, Nami struck Ulti with a lightning bolt.[122] While the two fought, Big Mom commanded Napoleon, Prometheus, and Hera to combine, firing a powerful laser beam at Ulti that knocked her unconscious. Big Mom then noticed Zeus nearby, but when he attempted to reenter her good graces, she callously rejected him, ordering Hera to consume Zeus despite his pleas for mercy. She then turned her attention to Tama, plucking her from Usopp's arms as she prepared to strike him and Nami down. Zeus attempted to attack Big Mom as a last show of defiance, but she easily snatched him, squeezing out the last remnants of his soul before tossing his body to Hera. Big Mom then noticed Tama attempting to escape with Usopp and Nami and became enraged at her perceived betrayal, preparing to kill all three with Napoleon. However, before she was able to do so she was interrupted by an attack from Kid, who slammed her to the ground, though she quickly returned to her feet.[123] As Big Mom and Kid fought, they heard a broadcast throughout the island that Luffy, who had been defeated by Kaidou, would return, though Big Mom scoffed that it was just a lie to maintain the morale of the samurai. Law then joined the fight.[124] During their battle, Big Mom was surprised to see a large dragon, whom she mistook for Kaidou, crash through the floor and upward through the ceiling.[125] After Luffy announced to everyone present on Onigashima that he would defeat Kaidou, Big Mom once again laughed at his claim.[126] When Kid appeared distracted by strange headaches during the fight, Big Mom attempted to strike him down with a blow from Napoleon but was foiled by an attack from Law. Prometheus blasted Law out of the air, while Big Mom slammed down Napoleon's lightning-infused blade down on Kid, who was still suffering from unexplained pain. Big Mom taunted the pirate captain, saying that he looked as if he would die before she even delivered the killing blow. However, Kid eventually rose to his feet, with Big Mom noting he looked to have gotten a second wind.[127] Big Mom then blasted Kid out of the tower and chased after him, but Law used his awakened Devil Fruit powers to pierce his sword through Big Mom's body and release a powerful electrical shockwave inside her, causing her to bleed at the mouth. Before she could recover, Kid then used his own awakened Devil Fruit to magnetize Big Mom's body, causing all nearby metal beams and objects to slam into her.[128] Furious, Big Mom emerged from the pile of rubble and used her Soul Pocus to steal the lifespan of the nearby Beasts Pirates, using it to turn the nearby metal beams into homies, as well as empower Prometheus, Napoleon and Hera. She then consumed a year's worth of her own lifespan to increase her size and strength. After praising Law and Kid for managing to hurt her for the first time in decades, she challenged them to try and take her position as an Emperor.[129] After fighting for a time,[130] she stood triumphantly over them and continued beating them. When their crews begged her to spare them any more harm, Big Mom mocked the two captains for their crews' pleads and had Hera attack them with lightning, reminding them that pity and mercy had no place on a battlefield. Big Mom then prepared to rejoin Kaidou on the rooftop, noting that she had not heard Kaidou's victory cry yet. Before she could fly away, Law pierced Big Mom's body with his sword and unleashed a shockwave inside her once again, causing her to bleed from the mouth and fall off from Hera. Before the metal beam homies could attack Law, Kid used his powers to pull them into a massive metal bull, surprising Big Mom that both captains were still standing. Kid then rammed the bull into Big Mom, slamming her into a wall.[131] Big Mom stood back up and used her own soul to mend her broken bones by turning them into homies. She then combined Hera, Prometheus and Napoleon into a massive energy blade, using it to slash through Kid's mechanical bull, and charged at the two captains, boasting that she and Kaidou had sunk hundreds of "brats" like them in their decades as Emperors. Kid magnetized her head into the tower behind her, sticking Big Mom to it and preventing her from dodging as he once again charged the bull at her. However, Big Mom managed to lift the tower and spun it around, so it took the attack instead. She then created a new homie, Misery, out of Hera and Prometheus' fire and lightning and had her attack Kid and the other pirates and samurai. Suddenly, Law dropped the remains of the tower on her head, and while she was on the floor jumped on her chest and stabbed his sword through her, extending it all the way to Wano's mainland. Big Mom repeatedly punched Law to try to get him off her, but he held on and unleashed a powerful shockwave that grievously injured Big Mom and created a large hole on the floor down to the mainland. Big Mom ordered Misery to kill Law, but Kid then assembled a massive railgun and aimed it at Big Mom. She defiantly challenged them to hit her with everything they got, reminding them of her status as an Emperor, and Kid fired, blasting Big Mom towards the hole.[132] Big Mom refused to fall down, withstanding the attack by grabbing the sides of the floor, and used her Soul Pocus to drain the lifespans of everyone around her, demanding that they give her either fifty years of their life or serve as her slaves; however, Kid and Law were unaffected since they did not fear her. Law then created a special ROOM around Big Mom that silenced her, stopping her Soul Pocus from working. When Misery tried to save Big Mom, Law sliced her in half, while Kid continued firing at Big Mom, eventually pushing her down the hole. As she fell through the armory, Big Mom tried to grab one of the bombs that Yamato had frozen, which caused it to explode, blowing a hole in the bottom of the island. As she and some of the explosives fell towards the hole in the Wano mainland, Big Mom mentally cursed Roger for starting the "Great Pirate Era" before his death and sending tons of young pirates after her head, and for not telling her more about One Piece before he died. She also swore vengeance on Kid and Law, telling them not to think this was the end of her. She then fell into the hole, getting caught up in the massive (but silent) explosion.[133] Big Mom fell into Wano's magma chamber and was later joined by the defeated Kaidou. As a result, an underwater volcano erupted from where Onigashima had previously sat.[134] As of the present day, her status and whereabouts appear to still be unknown to the world at large, as Pudding was not certain if she was alive and some low-ranking members of the Blackbeard Pirates believed her to be dead.[135] The following events are Non-Canon and therefore not considered part of the Canon story.
