Renowned percussionist and drummer Jon Mueller is celebrated for his uncommon technique, rigor and virtuosity. Mueller’s aim has been to move drums, percussion and rhythm from its anticipated backbeat to a central musical focus, something more intuitive and natural than usually imagined.
Since 2009, Rhythmplex has presented the music and multi-disciplinary projects of drummer and percussionist Jon Mueller. Project partnerships have included AIGA, Alverno Presents, Eaux Claires Festival, Shaker Heritage Society, Popelka Trenchard Glass, Bjorklunden and Viva!
Conceived and performed by Jon Mueller with bass drums, voice and percussion, with the addition of harmonium, tanpura and ceremonial breath by Cory Allen, and sarangi (using a prepared piano as the speaker) by William Ryan Fritch.

The Wisconsin-based percussionist’s usual repetitive rhythms and textures are replaced here with fluid, calm tones, overlaid with otherworldly wails.
