Michael Powell (1905-1990) was a British director, writer and producer who made acclaimed films with Emeric Pressburger under the banner of "The Archers". He also directed Peeping Tom (1960), a controversial and influential horror film, and married Thelma Schoonmaker, Scorsese's editor.
