It passes through the Raja Uda residential suburb of Butterworth, and continues through the Raja Uda Industrial Estate. A portion of Jalan Raja Uda lies north of the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR).

Raja Uda was named after Raja Tun Uda Al-Haj Raja Muhammad, the first Governor of Penang after Independence, serving from 1957 to 1967. It is bordered by Bagan Ajam in the north, Bagan Lalang to the east, Mak Mandin to the southeast, and Bagan Jermal to the south.
