Dato' Sir Onn bin Dato' Jaafar (Jawi: عون بن جعفر; 12 February 1895 – 19 January 1962) was a Malayan politician who served as the 7th Menteri Besar of Johor from 1947 to 1950.

Datuk Onn Jaafar di lahirkan pada tahun 1895 di Bukit Gambir, Jalan Gertak Merah, Johor Bharu. Beliau merupakan anak yang ketiga dari tujuh orang anak lelaki dan tujuh orang anak perempuan. Bapanya Datuk Jaafar bin Haji Muhammad iaitu Menteri Besar Johor yang pertama semasa pemerintahan Sultan Ibrahim.
Dato’ Onn bin Jaafar was a Malayan political figure who played a leading role in the Merdeka (independence) movement and the establishment of the Federation of Malaya, forerunner of the present country of Malaysia. Born in the sultanate of Johore (later the state of Johor), north of Singapore, Onn.
HE IS perhaps best known for organising nation–wide protests against the colonial Malayan Union scheme in 1946 that culminated in the formation of Umno in May that year. Nevertheless, Datuk Onn Jaafar (1895–1962) remains an enigma.
