Eduardo Nicanor Frei Montalva OMCh ( Spanish pronunciation: [eˈðwaɾðo fɾej monˈtalβa]; 16 January 1911 – 22 January 1982) was a Chilean political leader. In his long political career, he was Minister of Public Works, president of his Christian Democratic Party, senator, President of the Senate, and the 27th president of Chile from 1964 to 1970.
Eduardo Frei was a Chilean politician and the first Christian Democratic president of Chile (1964–70). Frei graduated in law in 1933 from the Catholic University of Chile, where he had been president of the National Association of Catholic Students in 1932–33.
