Klas Östergren, född 20 februari 1955 i Stockholm, [ 2] är en svensk författare, manusförfattare och översättare. Han blev 2014 invald i Svenska Akademien, [ 3] men begärde utträde 2018. [ 4] Biografi. Östergren växte upp på Lilla Essingen [ 5] i en familj med fyra barn. Fadern, född 1906, hade flyttat till Sverige från Finland.
