•This is the first Peanuts TV special where Poochie, Emily, and "Crybaby" Boobie appear. It is also one of the only TV specials in which Sally is absent, the others being He's Your Dog, Charlie Brown, What a Nightmare, Charlie Brown, and It's the Girl in the Red Truck, Charlie Brown.
•This is the first Peanuts TV special to have a TV special exclusive character (being Carlin) introduced after Schulz's death in 2000, and the first since It Was My Best Birthday Ever, Charlie Brown in 1997 with Mimi.
•The writers for this special approached Marcie's characterization with the idea of her being neurodivergent, with cognitive scientist Scott Barry Kaufman serving as a consultant. While Marcie being neurodivergent or autistic has been a popular theory among readers of the strip, the special's depiction of this manifesting as introversion/shyness is inconsistent with her portrayal in Peanuts media up to now: though undoubtedly socially awkward and prone to misunderstanding instructions (such as her confusion over Easter eggs in It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown), she is frequently shown to be outspoken and brave when the situation calls for it, such as when she punched Thibault in an August 1973 storyline.
