Vasile "Vasko" Popa ( Serbian Cyrillic: Васко Попа; 29 June 1922 – 5 January 1991) was a Yugoslav and Serbian [1] poet of Romanian origin. Biography. Васко Попа. Popa was born in the village of Grebenac ( Romanian: Grebenaț ), Yugoslavia (present-day Serbia) into a Banat Romanian family. Popa started writing during his high school time.
Васко Попа је један од најпревођенијих југословенских песника, а и сам је преводио са француског језика. У Вршцу, 29. маја 1972. године основао је Књижевну општину Вршац (КОВ) и покренуо необичну библиотеку на дописницама, названу „Слободно лишће“. Исте године изабран је за дописног члана Српске академије наука и уметности.
