Everett (/ ˈ ɛ v ə r ɪ t /; Lushootseed: dᶻəɬigʷəd) is the county seat and most populous city of Snohomish County, Washington, United States. It is 25 miles (40 km) north of Seattle and is one of the main cities in the metropolitan area and the Puget Sound region.
The community was named after Edward Everett, [6] who served as U.S. Representative, U.S. Senator, the 15th Governor of Massachusetts, Minister to Great Britain, and United States Secretary of State. He also served as President of Harvard University. [7] In 1892, Everett was upgraded from a town to a city.
