    • St. Thomas Church. Between 1723 and 1750 Johann Sebastian Bach was the cantor at this 13th-century Gothic church. It has also been Bach’s burial place since 1950, and you can find his ledger stone on the floor of the choir and see a statue in his honour outside in front.
    • St. Nicholas Church. This Gothic and Baroque Church was the scene of the Monday Demonstrations that eventually helped reunite Germany.
