The character's integrity was already compromised (which is why Al Corley wanted out) and it continued with the re-casting with Jack Coleman. People say Coleman was a nice guy and he grew into a decent-enough actor after DYNASTY.
Jun 25, 2018 · When it was decided by the producers to finally recast the character after Al Corley had refused multiple offers to return. Actually Al Corley was never asked to return. Except for "The Reunion" of course. Because several scripts and story outlines were already written, you can't rewrite them two days before the shooting.

Oct 19, 2023 · I doubt Al Corley was kicking himself when DYNASTY blew up, because that was already happening before he left. Corley and PSM didn't leave because of arrogance (at least, not their own); they left because the writing for their characters began to suck, and they could tell that it was not going to get any better.
Aug 19, 2023 · Al Corley and Pamela Sue Martin are the obvious ones. Both disliked the way that their characters were written in Season 2 (Steven) and Season 4 (Fallon) respectively. Kate O'Mara wanted to play the Rani again in Doctor Who rather than continuing on with Caress.
Feb 23, 2020 · Jack Coleman was more intense and direct in his portrayal of Steven, but lacked that quiet, sensitive vulnerability factor that Al Corley had. Emma Samms was mostly on The Colbys from 1985-1987. I think a lot of damage was done to Dynasty when Catherine Oxenberg was fired or quit.
Oct 29, 2016 · Actor Al Corley had the desire to leave because he was dissatisfied by the scripts (they were erasing the gay storyline for him)- similar to what led Pamela Sue Martin to leave later (around the time she had the affair with the horrible Peter DeVilbis in Season 4). And everyone who liked Season 1 of Dynasty understood it.
Apr 1, 2018 · Al Corley’s departure hurt season 3 and beyond. Catherine’s departure in my opinion did nothing either way, her character served its purpose and as perfectly casted as Amanda was she was one child too many and she was only invented to replace Pamela Sue.
