  1. Nice photo Don but the signals look like something some kid would make from soda straws for his HO layout. Those have got to be the most Godawful looking signals Ive ever seen. The look of new era railroading is crap.. Sorry Im from the old school of good old steel girders holding up searchlight signal heads is more to my liking.

  2. Don Winslow was a regular on Train Orders for many years. He was a great photographer of railroading and many other subjects beyond trains. He also had an excellent website. As many of you may know, Don passed away on November 18, 2022. His website was in danger of going dark forever when a group of us worked very hard to keep it going.

  4. Many of you knew Don Winslow from his postings of photos and words on TrainOrders over the years. I am sad to report that Don passed away on Friday, November 18. Around the time of the BN/AT&SF corporate merger in 1995, warbonnet/Super Fleet locomotives lettered for BNSF began appearing around the system. Although BNSF lettering replaced Santa Fe on the long hood, the Santa Fe style Cooper Black typeface was retained.
