[a] The district's commercial heart is Kensington High Street, running on an east–west axis. The north-east is taken up by Kensington Gardens, containing the Albert Memorial, the Serpentine Gallery and Speke 's monument.

Many European embassies have their roots here and there is a wealth of peaceful space, notably garden squares and the wonderful Kensington Gardens.

I’ve loved this area ever since I spent the day browsing new reads at South Kensington Books followed by a long walk across everything this fabulous neighbourhood in London has to offer.
