Getting around. Nara is served by two railway companies, Kintetsu Railways and JR West. The Kintetsu station is an underground station just a few steps from Kofukuji and Nara Park, while the JR station is a 15-20 minute walk west of Kofukuji and the park.
Upon arriving at JR Nara Station, you can easily transfer to a local bus to reach the enchanting Nara Park and surrounding sights like the Todaiji Temple. Signposts and maps are readily available at the station to guide you to the bus station.

Getting to Nara Park. Nara Park is a short walk east of Kintetsu-Nara Station. The area can also be reached by walking straight along Sanjo-dori Street from JR Nara Station, but takes roughly 20 minutes. Alternatively, hop on a bus. Nearly all city center buses make stops in and around the park.

May 19, 2024 · The Nara Park is located just east of Nara city in Japan, and it’s easy to reach from either Osaka or Kyoto. From Kyoto, it’s a 30-60 minute ride south on one of the Kintetsu rail lines. From Osaka, start at Namba Station and then it’s a 45 minute ride east on the Kintetsu lines.
