HAREFIELD. The parish of Harefield (fn. 1) lies immediately north of Uxbridge in the extreme north-west corner of the county, adjoining Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire on the west and north. It is roughly rectangular in shape, and although stretching for almost six miles north and south, it covers only 2½ miles at its widest from east to west.
A large, self-contained village – and a world famous hospital – situated in the far north-western corner of Greater London. Neolithic remains have been found in the parish, as well as fossils in the chalk.
