New Bedford ( Massachusett: Accushnet) [3] is a city in Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States. It is located on the Acushnet River in what is known as the South Coast region. Up through the 17th century, the area was the territory of the Wampanoag Native American people.

- Fort Taber Park. At the very tip of the peninsula there’s a beautifully landscaped 50–acre park looking out over Buzzards Bay. This has more than a mile of ocean waterfront, but is also imbued with a lot of mostly military history.
