These Fragments I Have Shored Against My Ruin is the eighth and final episode of the first season of the Apple TV+ psychological thriller Constellation. It aired on March 27, 2024.

Jo is taken to an astronaut rehabilitation clinic, where the truth is revealed.

Whilst Jo's lifeless body floats aimlessly aboard the ISS, a recording from her to Alice plays on repeat. Meanwhile, on earth, the other Jo is taken to St. Sergius mental hospital, where Irena awaits to begin treatment. Whilst being escorted inside, Jo briefly hallucinates that she's being guided by the Valya, before undergoing electroshock therapy.

Bud, now back inside his original body, has retrieved the CAL, as well as a cassette player. He plays the recording of the Apollo 18 incident, in which he reports that his colleagues are alive. Finally back home, Bud takes an ax to the CAL device, completely eviscerating it.

Once Magnus and Alice return home, Alice explains that her mother died on the ISS and that her body is still in space. Magnus is confused, explaining that Jo is very much alive and that Alice was just with her for two days. However, Alice insists that she lost her mom and that the Jo who came back is the other Alice's mother. And all of this is happening because of the CAL. Magnus suspects that Jo's delusions have somehow influenced Alice, but she insists that she speaks the truth.

While Jo recovers from therapy, the nuns perform an ultrasound, at which point they discover Jo is pregnant, which they report to Irena.

Henry, presenting as Bud, is now being charged with not only Paul's shooting but the murder of Ian Rogers after throwing him overboard. He is interrogated by Agent Bright, who isn't convinced by Henry's claim that he's not Bud Caldera, though she does agree to issue a polygraph test, as well as compare Henry's DNA with any of Bud's DNA found in his apartment. Henry wants to know everything possible about Bud, so Agent Bright hands him the book Bud wrote.

Bud shows Frederic what's left of the CAL, and to Frederic's surprise, Bud, posing as Henry, isn't nearly as concerned abou the CAL as he would expect. Frederic then reveals that they're going to dismiss Jo, leading Bud to recall the first intake of female astronauts back in 1964. There was concern with the intricacies of matching a woman to a machine like a spacecraft. It's a problem they never solved.
