A Good Place for Jews. The Jews from Chmielnik entered the 19th century as a well-organized and well-functioning community. The community was not very large, though. The mayor of Chmielnik, Franciszek Gnoiński, stated in his report that in 1820 there were 632 Jews and 590 Christians in Chmielnik.
