Assuming that you are in town to go to the Yamaha Factory tour this makes for a pleasant walk up from the train station with nice gardens and an opportunity for a formal tea ceremony or a visit to the local museums.

  5. Kakegawa Bird Park (掛川花鳥園, Kakegawa Kachōen) is a large aviary and flower park in Kakegawa, home to a wide selection of birds that visitors can see up close and in many cases feed. The varieties of birds include owls, penguins and tropical species like toucans and parrots to name but a few.

  6. Kakegawa Castle (掛川城, Kakegawajō) is a castle in Kakegawa whose keep was destroyed at the end of the feudal period in 1869, but rebuilt in 1994. While most castles have been reconstructed in concrete during the 20th century, Kakegawa Castle was the first to be rebuilt using wood.
