  1. Oct 20, 2009 · Pontiac iron head chambers were always beautiful but as-cast ports sucked. I've seen some really pretty and very well ported iron heads on the Westech flowbench only flow 230 at .500 lift. That same head with small 1.96/1.66 valves will have lower flow numbers than the larger valve head at higher lifts.

  2. Aug 24, 2017 · Basically, all Pontiac D-port heads with the 2.11" intakes/1.77 exhaust flow pretty close the same. Funny how the Ram Air V gets the worst exhaust-to-intake port when it was capable of propelling a '69 GTO down the quarter mile at 11.73. Ya, I'd take that poor port any time. So read the numbers with a grain of salt as he says.

Fuel pump bolts were 3/8-16 x 1 1/4 and had a 12 pt head to allow for right side socket clearance Don't over torque into the aluminum timing cover. 12-18 lb-ft." From my research, the 1964-68 with the 8-bolt water pumps/timing chain covers used the 3/8" bolts.

  6. Dec 14, 2010 · 05GTO said: The YS block was (also) used in the 1969 GTO and was a 400CID 4bbl with 350hp and an Automatic Transmission. The 0282800 number is the engine serial number. Look on the back of the block behind the #8 cylinder for the casting number which should be 9790071. 68 and 69 used the YS letter code and the same casting number.
