The Royal Mile (Scottish Gaelic: Am Mìle Rìoghail; Scots: Ryal Mile) is a succession of streets forming the main thoroughfare of the Old Town of the city of Edinburgh in Scotland.
Based in the Old Town the Royal Mile is a ‘Scots mile’ long, connecting two royal residences (the Castle and the palace of Holyrood House). It is home to parliaments old and new, law courts, a cathedral and churches, and a range of visitor attractions, walking tours, shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs.
