Hastings ( / ˈheɪstɪŋz / HAY-stings) is a seaside town and borough in East Sussex on the south coast of England , 24 mi (39 km) east of Lewes and 53 mi (85 km) south east of London. The town gives its name to the Battle of Hastings, which took place 8 mi (13 km) to the north-west at Senlac Hill in 1066.

- Hastings Contemporary. An impressive collection of contemporary art housed in one of southern England's finest buildings. Formerly the Jerwood Collection, Hastings Contemporary plays host to rolling exhibitions from some of the world's leading contemporary artists, including the likes of Jake and Dinos Chapman and Sarah Lucas.
- Smugglers Adventure. Hidden away in underground caverns, a museum about the rise and fall of smuggling. This is the full Indiana Jones experience.
- Old Roar Gill. A wooded enclosure complete with its own waterfalls. This nature reserve is home to a host of rare flowers and birds. Look out for spotted flycatchers, grey wagtails and kingfisher, as well as bluebells and wood anenome in the spring.
- Explore the Historic Net Shops & The Stade. A row of "net shops," the traditional tall sheds or "lofts" used by fishermen to store their nets and prevent their rotting, has been perfectly preserved in the Old Town of Hastings.
- Follow in Foyles' Footsteps in Hastings Old Town. Old Town Hastings was made famous by the excellent Foyle's War TV show, a war-time crime drama set in Hastings.
- Visit the Hastings Fishermen's Museum. While exploring the Stade area and its Net Shops, be sure to also visit the Fisherman's Church of St. Nicholas in Rock-a-Nore Road.
- Explore Hastings Castle and West Hill. The remains of Hastings Castle, the first fortification to be built after William the Conqueror's invasion in 1066, can be easily explored.
