The Chilling Championship is a second half of the 23rd episode of Rescue Heroes.
Jake Justice, Jack Hammer, and Rip Rockefeller approach the mine where four workers are trapped. Jake asks the group of workers outside the mine which way to get to tunnel 12, and one of them points in the direction that leads to it. After entering the mine, Jack uses his jack hammer and breaks a hole through the floor and they rescue the four workers.
At the Rescue Heroes Mountain Action Command Center, Billy Blazes thanks Jake for the good news, and Rocky Canyon tells Billy that he guesses the monitor won't be needed for while. Billy knew what Rocky meant, and he allows him to watch the basketball game, and just tells him to keep his yelling down, but Rocky tells Billy he doesn't yell. As Rocky watches the game, he sees his old friends, Alfredo and Carter playing. When Wendy Waters arrives at the monitor, Rocky tells her the team is called the Gotham Monarchs, which was a team he was captain on. The team even retried Rocky's jersey, Number 32. Wendy tells Rocky it might have smelled so bad they couldn't find anyone else who would wear it. Rocky then tells Wendy that this year, Coach Malone asked him back to be guest coach. When Wendy sees Alfredo on the monitor, Rocky tells her who he is and he's the equipment manager and team trainer, and he's even Red Cross certified. When Carter does a slam dunk in one of the baskets, Rocky tells Wendy he taught him how to do it, which he called the "Canyon Slam". As the clock on the score board counted down from ten, Carter throws the basketball right into the basket and it goes right in, and the Monarchs win the game. After the team wins, Alfredo calls Rocky and tells him they've won, and Rocky tells him he'd just saw the whole thing on the monitor.
After the game, the Monarchs board their bus and Coach Malone tells the team they all did great, and tells Carter, who was holding the trophy, that the hook shot of his could still use some work. As the bus drives down the road, Carter tells Alfredo he wants to pass on his thanks, and he couldn't have done it without all his fresh towels. As Coach Malone and the Monarchs laugh, as the bus kept on driving, it suddenly slips on puddles of ice on the road and loses control. As the bus slips out of control heading towards bridge, when it skids onto it, the bus crashes into it's side and Coach Malone hits his head on the steering wheel and gets knocked out. Alfredo tries to wake up the coach, but he won't wake up, so he quickly calls Rocky for help. At the command center, Alfredo tells Rocky on the radio about the situation. Rocky tells him it's important to stay calm and they already have his location and they're on their way. So Rocky activates the emergency alarm and Billy and Wendy run up to the monitor. Rocky tells them about the Monarchs' bus skidded to the edge of the bridge, and it could now go over any minute. Billy then gets the System Locator to locate Al Pine. Rocky, Billy and Wendy then board the Hyper Jet and take off out of the command center fly off to rescue the Monarchs.
At the bridge, as the bus was dangling over the edge of it, Alfredo tells the rest of the Monarchs to stay calm and sit tight. However, Carter states that sitting tight is hardly Carter McPherson style. So he gets in the driver's seat as he plans to not have only saved championship, but also the lives of his teammates. Carter then starts trying to back up the bus to get it back onto the bridge, just as the Hyper Jet arrives and lands. Billy and Rocky and run out of the jet's back hatchway and hurry to the bridge. Billy informs they won't be able to evacuate until they got the bus properly secured. As Carter kept trying back the bus up back onto the bridge, Alfredo tries to stop him and get him to wait for help, but Carter tells to not sweat it he doesn't need any help. But as Carter kept trying, he caused the bus to move forward and cause the part of the bridge it was lying on to break from underneath it and the bus started to get closer to falling off the edge of the bridge. Al then arrives on a Snowmobile and sees the bus dangling off the edge. Billy and Rocky catch up to him and Wendy arrives in the N911DN. Billy tells Wendy they need a winch line, and Wendy brings it down. Rocky then attaches the winch line from the helicopter to the back of the bus to get it stabled. Rocky then opens the bus' back doors and the Monarchs cheer for him as he came to rescue them. After the Monarchs and Coach Malone were off the bus safe and sound, the coach wakes up and sees Rocky. Carter then suddenly runs back into the bus cause the trophy was still inside it, and he wanted to quickly go get it. As Carter was back in the bus, he finds the trophy, but just before he could pick it up and bring it back out, the bus shakes and starts to fall all the way over the edge, and the part of the bridge it was lying on breaks completely from underneath it and it starts to go down into the river below, still attached to the cable from the helicopter. The bus was too heavy for the helicopter to hold, so Wendy had to cut the line, and Billy tells her to do it. So Wendy cuts the winch line and the bus falls all the way down into the river with Carter inside it, and Rocky falls into the river too.
After the bus falls into the river, Billy asks Al if his detectors could get a read on underwater movement, and Al gets onto the snowmobile. Billy then tells Wendy to keep the helicopter's searchlight on the scene, and Wendy shines the searchlight on the bus as it was floating down the river. As the bus was floating down the river, Carter gets carried out of it and away by the current. As Billy puts on diving gear, Alfredo asks Billy if Rocky will be okay, but Billy tells it won't do any good if he's been knocked unconscious. Alfredo then sees some diving gear and decides to use it. Underwater, Rocky swims up to the floating bus. As Al was setting up his scanners, he notices Alfredo diving in, and he jumps into the water. As Rocky swims into the bus, it hits the edges of ice on the side of the river which causes the luggage compartments to open and luggage falls out of them right on top of Rocky. After Billy puts on his diving gear, he dives into the river, just as the bus sinks to the bottom of the river. As the bus was now sunken, Alfredo and Billy swim into it and quickly remove all the luggage on top of Rocky and free him, and give him a breathing device. They then swim out of the bus, leaving the trophy behind as Alfredo couldn't find it.
After popping out of the surface, Rocky thinks the current must have dragged Carter down river. They suddenly hear someone crying for help, and they see Carter getting carried away. Wendy shines the helicopter's searchlight on him as he was getting carried away, and he suddenly hits his head the edges of ice and goes under. Rocky and Alfredo quickly dive under to go find and rescue him, while Al uses his density scanner to find some thin ice past the bend, where he could make a hole. After Billy climbs out of the river, Wendy alerts Billy about Carter slipping under the ice, and Rocky and Alfredo are in pursuit. Al then arrives at the position to give them an exit, and he cuts the ice with a welding tool to make a round hole. Underwater, Rocky and Alfredo find Carter stranded in some roots. Alfredo swims through them and gets to Carter and gets him out of them. Then he taps on the ice above and Al shoots a flare into the hole he cut out, which lights up the area underwater they're in. Alfredo sees the flare and swims carrying Carter with him up to the hole. After Alfredo pops out of the hole and gives Carter to Al, he puts Carter down on the ice. After Al pulls Alfredo out of the water, he tries to wake Carter up. Carter then coughs and wakes up, just as Rocky pops up out of the hole too. Al congratulates Alfredo as he just saved Carter's life.
