Founded in the 1940s and previously known as Eng Wah Cinemas, it is a leading film exhibitor and distributor. It is the first cinema operator to launch the world’s first full 2K (HD) Digital Cinema, and is also the first to commercially screen 3D digital movies in 2008.
Opening its first cinema in 1975, WE Cinemas (formerly Eng Wah Cinemas) embarked on a two-year hiatus in 2013, before finally returning with a new brand name in 2015. WE Cinemas’ premium class hall, dubbed First Class, has plusher seats, personal tables for clients and food service.
