Imperial Palace was an Asian-themed hotel and casino located left of the Flamingo on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It operated from 1979 to 2011 and was owned by Harrah's Entertainment (now Caesars Entertainment). The hotel is currently known as the Linq.

    Before the Hotel

Flamingo Capri, the motel before Imperial Palace, built an Asian-themed tower known as the "Imperial Palace Tower". The tower was incredibly different from the motel's intended tropical theme.

    Opening and Public Years

After renovations were fully done, the Imperial Palace officially opened on November 1, 1979. A marquee for the Imperial Palace was created in front of the hotel, which was eventually removed in the late 1980s. In 1988, the Pagoda Tower was built. This tower fit more into the Imperial Palace's theme, as it, of course, included a large four story pagoda, complete with an LED screen surrounded by Chinese dragons. The tower also added more space for the casino and offices. A year later, massive renovations to the pool now included a new area of the pool, a two-story waterfall, a heated spa and the Shangri-La Bar. A new race and sports book was added to the casino, along with an office complex, the Rockhouse Nightclub, and a fitness center.

    Harrah's Purchase

On August of 2005, Harrah's Entertainment purchased the Imperial Palace for $370 million, despite having no plans to demolish or remove any part of the property. On October of 2009, the hotel bought out a new set of Elvis Presley-related memorabilia. In the hotel's final years, Harrah's Entertainment officially announced that the Imperial Palace would be going under a massive renovation and would be renamed under "Project Linq".
