  1. New Iberia (French: La Nouvelle-Ibérie; Spanish: Nueva Iberia) is the largest city in and parish seat of Iberia Parish in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The city of New Iberia is located approximately 21 miles (34 kilometers) southeast of Lafayette, and forms part of the Lafayette metropolitan statistical area in the region of Acadiana.

    • Shadows-on-the-Teche. Remarkably, there’s a former working sugarcane plantation with a Greek Revival house backing onto Bayou Teche downtown. Shadows-on-the-Teche dates to 1834 and was founded by wealthy sugar planter David Weeks (1786-1834), remaining in the same family for four generations.

    • Bayou Teche Museum. Bayou Teche Museum is limited as it does not open on Sundays through Wednesdays so please be sure to take note of that to avoid wasting your time.
