Oct 14, 2016 · SINGAPORE — After more than four decades, the Park & Ride scheme, which encourages drivers to make public transport a part of their daily commute, will be phased out from Dec 1.
The Park-and-Ride scheme was introduced as one alternative that motorists could choose to avoid paying the ALS licensing fees. Under this scheme, motorists could park their vehicles at designated parking lots located within the city fringe for a fee of S$10 monthly before shuttling into the CBD on special buses at S$0.50 per trip or S$20 per month.
Came across this P&R scheme while browsing through an archived page of TransitLink website. The weird thing I find about this scheme is that the $75 monthly Park & Ride fee comes with a EZ-Link card with $40 value.
