It is his 120th birthday = He takes care of his health. It is his 45th birth anniversary = He died young.

  3. Sep 27, 2012 · In the absence of context, the best I can offer is that there used to be a beer in Britain called Double Diamond, and a diamond (e.g. wedding) anniversary is now the 60th anniversary, although it used to be the 75th anniversary. So double D might be 2 x 60 = 120th anniversary, or maybe 2 x 75 = 150th anniversary, or maybe neither, or maybe it's ...

  4. Mar 12, 2014 · People will understand what you mean either way (given the context) but I'd say "anniversary" would be the proper term to use here. The term "birthday" usually refers strictly to people's birthday (and honestly, I've never heard it being used to describe anything else!)

  9. May 7, 2014 · I regard the use of "year" with "anniversary" as redundant since "anniversary" comes from the Latin word for "year." (annus) Those who say such things as "six-month anniversary" are simply misusing the word. From Wiktionary: Middle English: from Latin anniversarius ‘returning yearly,’ from annus ‘year’ + versus‘turning.’
