  1. Guilford is a town in New Haven County, Connecticut, United States, that borders Madison, Branford, North Branford and Durham, and is situated on I-95 and the Connecticut coast. The town is part of the South Central Connecticut Planning Region. The population was 22,073 at the 2020 census.

    • Henry Whitfield State Museum. The oldest stone house in the region was built for one of Guilford’s founders, the English Puritan minister Reverend Henry Whitfield.
    • Town Green. No historic New England town would be complete without a quaint old green, and Guilford has a perfect example. This space has barely changed since the 17th century.
    • Jacobs Beach. This small but well-tended beach is as good a place as any if you want to spend a sunny afternoon doing as little as possible. Pitching gently into Long Island Sound just beyond the mouth of the East River, Jacobs Beach is 420+ feet long and comes with a lot of amenities.
    • Hyland House Museum. One of the oldest house museums in New England, this Colonial Saltbox house went up in 1713 but is named for George Hyland. He was the owner-settler who bought this parcel of land in 1657.
