Gerontius, A huge thank you for this. I now understand how this stuff works. I have played around with the simulator that Asipak had written (which was amazing in its detail and those databases of previous simulations are very sorely missed), but that mainly just to work out how to continue when I had messed up a block, or if I just didn't have the troop availability that a guide required.
