Angola, [a] officially the Republic of Angola, [b] is a country on the west- central coast of Southern Africa. It is the second-largest Lusophone ( Portuguese-speaking) country in both total area and population and is the seventh-largest country in Africa.
Prehistory. The area of present day Angola was inhabited during the paleolithic and neolithic eras, as attested by remains found in Luanda, Congo, and the Namibe desert. At the beginning of recorded history other cultures and people also arrived. The first ones to settle were the San people.
