Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) has a rich history of over 100 years. The independent school is the culmination of the watershed merger of The Chinese High School (TCHS) and Hwa Chong Junior College (HCJC) in 2005.

Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) is an independent secondary educational institution in Bukit Timah, Central Region, Singapore. It was established in 2005 by the merger of The Chinese High School (1919–2004) and Hwa Chong Junior College (1974–2005).
The former Hwa Chong Junior College (HCJC) was set up in 1974 as the first government-aided junior college offering pre-university education. It offered courses in both the English and Chinese medium before the national restructuring of the curriculum in 1982.
