Oct 24, 2014 · Take HDD out, format it, make one new volume. Then you need to plug in your hard drive in your NAS again. Disconnect all other drives. Contact Synology assistance, find your NAS and press install. He will ask for an installation file for your version of the DSM.

I get Permission denied. su admin I type root password. I get Permission denied. Try sudo -i with john password instead of su.

I made sure that: my local SSH config uses the same private key to login on both Synology systems; both Synology systems have the same (corresponding) public key in .ssh/authorized_keys
Create a new account and enter the email paul@sinnema.me and check the 'I want to configure my email manually'. Edit incoming Mail to sinnema.me and port 993 and set the encryption method to SSL. Edit Outgoing mail to sinnema.me and port 465 and set the encryption method to SSL. Press Next.
Jun 27, 2023 · from the internet on a mobile device, I can use the Synology DS File app to browse the content of the NAS. When I try opening a video I can play it either in the built player of DS File, or in VLC. The video is streamed, no need to download it entirely before playing. I can see that DS File sends a (quite long) http link to VLC to play the video.

May 23, 2019 · Change the Synology SSH to a port different than 22 (such as 2222): Control Panel > Terminal & SNMP. Install Docker from Packages Center. Enable user home folders: Control Panel > Users > Advanced. Create a fake sshd user and disable it (docker will need it): Control Panel > Users.
Steps to fix the problem if you accidentally locked yourself out of the DSM Web access: You need to have ssh access, and use an administrator user. If you don't, you probably need to do a soft reset. (I am using Linux) Execute: ssh your_username@your_synology_ip. cd /etc.
