Szamotuły [ʂamɔˈtuwɨ] (‹See Tfd› German: Samter, Yiddish: Zamter[1]) is a town in western Poland, in Greater Poland Voivodeship, about 35 kilometres (22 miles) northwest of the centre of Poznań.

W 1946 roku liczba ludności wynosiła 8800, a w 1961 roku 12 046 mieszkańców. Do 1975 roku, do czasu reformy administracyjnej, Szamotuły stanowiły siedzibę powiatu szamotulskiego. Ponowna reforma w 1999 roku przywróciła powiaty i Szamotuły z powrotem stały się siedzibą powiatu.
