Mar 2, 2021 · In the real trial,Hoffman called the judge “Shande fur de Goyim” and said he’d have helped Hitler. Sorkin has to sanitize everything, that’s his way. The real trial didn’t fit the message he wanted to convey, because the Chicago 7 were real fucking revolutionaries, at least at the time.

The amount of injustice and bias these men face was completely unwarranted. The movie coming out now makes the story of the Chicago 7 even more crucial today than if it was released a few years earlier.

Apparently the judge was even worse in reality than how he was depicted in the film. And he had Bobby Seale gagged and bound for 3 days straight, not just for a few minutes. 4.
May 15, 2022 · Movies similar to Dark Waters and Trial of the Chicago 7 specifically, like a trial dramatized. As the story unfolds in the courtroom, the scene is acted out. Or even similar in the genre of like procedural legal drama. Similar to Spotlight or even the series Dopesick.

They changed the ending because they thought having him read out a list of all 6000 fallen Vietnam soldiers since the trial started whilst all the court stands up and applauds had a better emotional impact than the actual closing statement.

I think we'll have two Trial boys in the Supporting category, with Eddie Redmayne being the other one. Screenplay win looks pretty good.
