In this case, I don't think Amir Talai clarifying that he was mistaken when he said "Alastor is aromantic" has anything to do with shipping. I think it has to do more with Talai not wanting to spoil Season 2/3 of Hazbin Hotel for avid Alastor fans. That being said, series creator Vivienne Medrano did previously address shipping.

Given Hazbin Hotel’s inspiration from Broadway musicals, as well as Viv’s massive love for them, this should come as no surprise. Another thing worth pointing out is how none of these people are major A-list celebrities of any kind.
For the Amazon show, new voice actors were given to the characters. One of the new voice actors is Amir Talai voicing Alastor. I watched a clip of a musical battle between Vox and Alastor and I gotta say: Amir Talai nailed it as Alastor. What do YOU think of Amir Talai as Alastor?
Hows it going Amir. I'm Iranian-American as well. My dad moved here from Iran for college in the 70s and ended up staying to raise a family (not to mention not being able to go back due to political issues). I ended up being raised around a bunch of other families in the same boat as us - a white mom and an Iranian dad.
