Circus staff remove Dumbo from the pen, and Mrs. Jumbo flies into a rage, eventually dousing the ringmaster (Herman Bing) (who, though not truly evil, is a strict, greedy, and arrogant man who exploits workers and animals) in a water tub. She is subsequently deemed mad and locked in a cage.

Dumbo is about the cutest pixelated creature you're likely to see, and he's a wonder to behold. Yet it's the reaction of the marginalized characters to his amazing feats that are the key to the film. Shane Acker first made 9 (2009) as a ten minute short film while he was still at UCLA. It was nominated for Best Animated Short at the Oscars, and although it didn't win, Acker was offered the chance to expand it into a feature film.
