A life-long resident of Austria, Haydn spent most of his career as a Noble court musician for the wealthy Esterhazy family on their remote estate.
Franz Joseph Haydn is born on March 31, 1732 in the small hamlet of Rohrau (today Lower Austria). The church record on his baptism shows April 1, 1732. At Haydn's time, because of high child mortality rate, parents used to baptize their children on the first or second day of their lives.
