Mar 8, 2018 · Unfortunately, that statement is incorrect, as can be seen in the responses from Americans in the link that velisarius gave you; "purse" is not a catch-all American equivalent for the British English "handbag." Americans might be likely to refer to some of the items in your first picture as "purses", but certainly not all of them.

If you have one American, the sentences will still be in the third person, but with the singular form of the verb, does. Americans do not use [something]. One American does not use [something].
