Dec 28, 2023 · Starting the Trading Paints app prevented me from seeing my own livery, disallowed me from toggling the "Use Custom Paint" switch, and removed the "car_UserID.tag" from my iRacing/Paints/SF23 folder. With that, it has become obvious that I don't really understand how all of this works, so I am reaching out to others.

If you're like me and you weren't happy with the response from Trading Paints on the recent data breach, you might be interested in alternatives. From the light searching I did, I couldn't find any replacements that didn't use Trading Paints existing system.

Aug 15, 2020 · Have the trading paints app open. It will only apply while in the car or watching a replay. No where else. Also note that sometimes it can be slow to load when you are in a practice for some weird reason. Use CTRL+R to reload in game. You should see everything go white for a moment if its all loaded in correctly.
May 12, 2022 · If people are running custom number paint schemes, you need to have "Hide car numbers" checked in the graphics options I think is the menu or you won't see those. Delete the paints folder in documents > iRacing. Also I think Ctrl + R reloads paints in game. I had the same thing going on a while back.

Jun 18, 2021 · I'd estimate that perhaps 50% or more of the cars I see in sessions are using custom liveries. I don't use custom liveries myself, but I keep Trading Paints running to see the customer liveries of other drivers (otherwise most of the field will be running the iRacing default livery).
May 8, 2014 · Just make an account and browse the showroom for paints that you want on your cars. You add them to your library and when you run the trading paints application on your computer, you and everyone else who is running trading paints can see your new paint job.
Feb 22, 2017 · Wait a couple of mins for trading paints to download your skin off the server. first make sure the Trading Paints App is running then open it and see if the refresh button is available to refresh your paint. You can then go into iRacing and try Control + R to refresh your paint in game.
