May 1, 2005 · Saving Old Masters: Yoshi Nishio, Nishio Conservation Studio. Nishio, 54, is originally from Japan, and he worked at the Smithsonian's Freer Gallery and at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts before opening his own studio. What Nishio does is not restoration.
Apr 3, 2014 · Yoshi Nishio, Kyoichi Itoh and their conservation work at The Nishio Conservation Studio were featured in a one-hour TV documentary series, broadcast on the WOWOW Cable Channel (a channel similar to PBS in the US) in Japan on March 28th and 30th, and April 7.
Mr. Nishio will be joined on stage by Stacey Kelly, UMFA director of collections and conservator, and Luke Kelly, UMFA associate curator of collections, to discuss the conservation of Chiura Obata’s Horses screen—and the unprecedented discovery within it.
The instructor was Yoshi Nishio, founder and president of the Nishio Conservation Studio in Washington, DC. Yoshi is a fellow of AIC who studied at the Koyano Conservation Laboratory in Tokyo, and was awarded the John D. Rockefeller III Fund Fellowship to attend the Conservation Graduate Program in Cooperstown, NY.
