Dec 7, 2022 · Poland's preeminent contemporary film composer, Zbigniew Preisner was born May 20, 1955 in Bielsko-Biala; while studying history and philosophy at the University of Cracow he began writing music, and in 1981 scored his first picture, Antoni Krauze's Prognoza pogody.
Feb 7, 2023 · Preisner’s latest album, co-composed by the Australian singer Lisa Gerrard, is a song cycle about the end of the world informed by the global COVID-19 pandemic and Russia’s assault on Ukraine. Preisner has been openly lamenting the inevitable self-destruction of humanity his whole life, yet he’s left a hint of hope in the album’s title: It’s Not Too Late.
Zbigniew Preisner is going to present Requiem for my Friend as well as his film music to inaugurate XII International Festival of Sacred Music in Bogota, Colombia on September 7th 2023. The concert features Kaja Mianowana (soprano) and Dominik Wania (piano, organ).
